Me and my partner researched into different logo examples from various record labels. This is so that we can get logo ideas for our own record label. The record labels I looked at are not very popular and have original/ unique logos. I like these logos because they are eye catching and represent the label in a professional manner. like Columbia's record label logo. I like this because of the font and the symbol used to represent the record label, I feel like this gives a professional image for the label.
Me and my partner Lizzie looked at Island's logo. I especially like this logo because of the image they have presented e.g. the image of the palm tree represents an island. When it comes to creating my logo design I feel like linking the name of the record label with an image is a good idea e.g. it makes a brand recognisable and therefore represents a good image for a label.
Diamond and Raws logo is one of my favourite researched logos. I like the design due to the font they have used and the way it is presented e.g. the diamond within a circle. I think that this logo stands out and represents Diamond and Raws record label well.
Many of the logos I have looked at are in black and white. I feel as if Handcooked Records logo stands out from others because it involves colour within its design. The logo idea is creative and unique e.g. it combines the idea of records and them being 'hand cooked' as if their records are special and like nobody else's.
VibeTown Records logo is very simple, however it still stands out, I think the design of the logo is good and represents the record label in a professional way. This is something that I would like to include in my logo design to represent our record label.

I picked this logo to look at because I liked the name of the record label and the way the image represents it. Infinite Records have used the infinite symbol however with two records, I think that this is a good idea and makes their label more recognisable/ rememberable than the others.

Logo Ideas from our selected genre
These record label logo's are from the pop/ dance genre of music. I decided to look into this genre of record labels because it is the genre of music me and Lizzie are aiming for in our music video and for our record label. I like all of these logos because they are unique, even though they are not well known they still present a professional image for their record label. It seems as if they all have thought a lot about the design of their logos to make them eye catching and unique, I am aiming to do this when designing our logo for our record label.
Logo Ideas and Target Audience
Many of these logo's can appeal to different types of target audience's for example the Butterfly Records Logo may appeal to female audiences who listen to a certain genre of music e.g. Pop or Indie, it may also appeal to a certain age group such as 13- 20 year olds or teenagers. However, compared to other logos such as Hand Cooked Records the target audience may be different. This is because the genre of music is different e.g. Hip Hop and aspects of Pop. This means that Handcooked Records appeal to a different audience e.g. they may target more male than female audiences who are of an older age for example 16 and over. Therefore when it comes to creating my own Record Label and company I will make sure that my logo targets our preferred target audience (13- 23 year olds- preferably female).
Some good egs here. Bear in mind that the genre of your song could play a significant part in the design of your logo.

This is quite a comprehensive selection of logos with some good observations which are clearly influencing your thinking.
ReplyDeleteCan you make any comment on how the record logos might appeal to different target audiences?
