Marina's album back is one of my favourites that I have researched. It presents lots of colour and neon colours similar to what we are aiming for in our music video. The back cover matches with the front and looks really effective together. I also like the fact that their is only an image of Marina on the front of the album and not the back, this shows that her songs are more important and that she is trying to produce a message/ narrative through her music.
Taylor Swift: 1989
Taylors has produced the same theme on the front and back over her album e.g. neutral/ faded images similar to a polaroid. The font used looks like handwriting (similar to the front). Additionally she has used an image of her, however the image does not fill the entire of the back cover which is not something all artists do, I really like the effect this gives and think that we could consider it for our own album back. Taylor has used consistent font throughout the album for example for her name, track list and the producers/ writers area at the bottom of the album back.
Iggy Azelia: Bounce
Iggy's back cover is very bold and colourful, this represents her as a loud/ imaginative artist. The font is very basic due to the boldness of the rest of the album e.g. her costume and background. I really like the effect that the back gives because it stands out from a lot of other albums. Iggy's target audience is quite large and varied and therefore the boldness of the back cover is suitable for lots of different people.
Ariana Grande: My Everything
The back to Ariana's album is very basic and simple similar to the front. The colour theme of purple is consistent and gives a very slow/ indie feel to the album, her songs in the album are quite slow and meaningful and therefore she has portrayed this in the layout and theme on her album front/ back. Ariana's target audience are mostly young/ teenage girls, I think that the lilac/ simple theme suits this age group and gender.

Fifth Harmony: Reflection
Fifth Harmony's album is very upbeat and has a very bold/ meaningful narrative. In many of Fifth Harmony's songs they discuss ideas around feminism and women independence. The song names represent this along with the theme of the cover. They may have used gold and black to represent their bold and outgoing personalities. The font is very eye catching and stands out, however me and Lizzie are hoping to use more bright colours/ neon affects for our digi pack similar to the likes of Marina and Iggy.
Ellie Goulding: Burn
Ellie's colour theme is purples and lilacs which work really well together, she has listed her song names/ track list down the middle of the page and has not presented any images etc. This is ok however I don't feel like the font is very bold, it seems to clash with the background colour and is hard to read in some places, this is not something that I would want for my own album back or cover and therefore we will be careful when choosing a colour theme.
Little Mix: Salute
Little Mix's album back is very different to the front, it seems to be very simplistic and calming, I don't feel like this links with the narrative of their album. On the other hand the red font/ writing is very bold and easy to read in front of the blue/ very light background (clouds). Little Mix have presented the record label they are signed to and additional information about the production/ writing of the album, this is something that is vital in all music albums and therefore me and Lizzie are thinking of creating our own record company logo.
Demi Lovato: Demi
I much prefer the back to Demi's album to the front, I really like the effect of the lines that have been used. The theme is very basic i.e black and white, however it looks really effective. The font is also bold and highlights the important areas of the album e.g. the song names.
Beyonce: 4
Beyonce's album back is very bold and authentic. I really like the location that this image is taken and the fact that they are not using Beyonce's face for the back cover but her facing in the other direction. Unlike some artists she has printed her name on the back of the album too, I think this looks good and gives the album a calming feel. I also like how the names of the songs are not listed in a row but next to each other, however this font is very light and hard to read in some areas.
Katy Perry: Prism
Katy has also used an image of her on the back cover. The theme has been continued on the back e.g. different colours/ faded images giving the album a relaxing feel. I think its really clever how the song names are presented in a triangle e.g. representing a prism. Andrew Goodwin stated in his theory that artists like to make links between lyrics and visuals, but Katy has taken this a step further and actually used the lyrics/ song names to present an image.
Kesha: Cannibal
Kesha's album is very bold. The theme of reds and blacks have been carried on from the front cover to the back. The photoshop/ image effects make the album stand out. Kesha has also listed her song names in a random order e.g. some songs are bigger and bolder than others.
Rita Ora: Ora
Rita's album back has a similar theme to Kesha's I really like the black and red effect. Rita has used a collage of photos for her back cover in black and white. I like how this shows more of Rita's personality. The font is also very bold in colour and font making the song names stand out.
The Saturdays
This album back looks effective due to the boldness of 'The Saturdays' name. It over lays/ is presented on top of the song names which is different to what other artists usually have. However the font is very basic and is not something I would personally chose.
I feel like this album cover needs more colour and boldness to represent the genre of music their songs are in. In addition I feel like this back cover is too boring for their target audience e.g. young/ teenage girls.
