Group Name Ideas (and individual)

Me and Lizzie have decided our individual names for our group to be; Melanie, Karyna, Cassie, Aria and Isla. We researched into lots of different name ideas for the people in the group, along with group name ideas shown below. We thought it would be a good idea to individual names to represent the different characters and personalities in the group, I think these names are different and unique. Our target audience i.e. teenage girls (13- 23 year olds) look for idols/ role models in the music industry and therefore by presenting different characters in one group allows this to happen. In addition when it comes to filming, me and Lizzie are planning to style the characters differently e.g. through clothing and makeup in 1 person shots, however in group shots we are planning to style the group in similar colours to represent them as 5 friends/ a group.

When researching into group names, me and Lizzie used an online thesaurus to look up similar words relating to things such as our target audience, lyrics in our chosen song and types of feelings we want the group to represent for example confidence and boldness. I really liked the name Splitting Image, however we did not feel like this suited our group, this is because the meaning of the word represents identical e.g. all the same, we wanted to represent our group as a whole but also as individuals which is why we chose individual names as well. However in the end, me and Lizzie both decided that we like the name True Blue. The definition of this name represents loyalty/ genuine. This is how we want to represent the group to their fans and target audience. 'True' represents the fact that their lyrics are about real life and have true stories behind them and 'Blue' represents the boldness of the characters and the group. In addition me and Lizzie want the theme of the video to be Americanised and present colours such as Red, White and Blue e.g. through costume, makeup and props. Therefore the Blue in True Blue also represents this, this is also an idea to use for a theme in our tour posters/ album covers and backs.

Furthermore, I feel like the group name 'True Blue' sells the group to our chosen target audience, this is because the name is different and unique but also bold and interesting.
