How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

How I have improved since AS Media
Since my AS level coursework my knowledge has improved a lot in relation to aspects such as mise en scene, key terminology, camera work and editing. I found that I was able to learn from my mistakes, and also things I wanted to improve last year helped enhance my coursework in A2. I feel like I planned and researched more effectively this year, in AS my planning was minimal and we didn't spend much time on aspects such as costume and lighting. However this year much more effort went into the research and planning of our products making it easier to create an effective product.
For example, in my AS coursework the lighting was minimal and not well thought about:

As you can see aspects such as lighting, colour, costume, location and props are very different in comparison to AS level.

When planning our products we tried to be as creative as possible and therefore our media technology knowledge helped us to develop a better and more effective video, that follows conventions of other music videos within this genre.

We have also used better technology compared to AS level for example, we used a more technical/ professional camera to film our shots and also more technology such as the projector for the lighting and photoshop due to us creating more than one product this year (music video and ancillary products).




This unit was different to last years because it provides us with more options i.e. to be more creative. Last year when filming a film opening we were somewhat limited in regards to how creative we could be within editing, props, costume etc. I preferred the music video unit due to it being a more fun process, in addition we had more of an option in regards to casting members for our girl group, in AS we only had one member in our cast, however in A2 we were able to use a larger amount of people.

My knowledge in relation to technology and all other aspects of media has helped me improve dramatically since AS, and I am more pleased with the outcome of our products compared to last year, this was because we focused much harder on every aspect of the video i.e. editing, costume, location etc.
