Target Audience Mood Board


My target audience age is between 13- 23 years old (Mostly female). I feel like my music video will appeal to this age group due to the narrative of mine and Lizzie's chosen song and the way we are going to represent their brand. For example our song would appeal to girls/ women due to the fact they are singing about women independence/ feminism. In addition now that me and my partner have researched into target audience using questionnaires, it was easier to chose an age and gender for our audience. I feel like it is important for this age group to recognise this narrative and also have fun e.g. the song has a narrative but it is also upbeat and fun to listen to. I don't feel like any age groups younger than 13 would listen to our chosen song/ watch our video or artist because they may not understand the narrative and it is more for the adolescence category. I also feel like older people e.g. over 23 would not listen to our artists because they cover a narrative that is aimed at younger people/ girls e.g. it is trying to teach girls to be independent and not aim to impress other people. I also created a tagul of a person, including certain characteristics that our target audience may have and also what our chosen song aims to achieve in the audience for example the songs purpose is too give women confidence and good self esteem. In addition any person e.g. from different ethnic backgrounds is able to listen to our chosen song/ watch our video, this is because we want our artists to appeal to everybody no matter there race, ethnicity etc, this means that our group and music video will receive more popularity and give a sense of likability within our artists. Also people from rural or urban areas are able to listen/ download music from our artists this is due to music sites such as YouTube ( and free services). Our target audience questionnaire helped influence this finding e.g. when we asked questions such as where do you download/ buy your music from (the highest results came from free/ cheap music sites, rather than cd's/ hard copies or iTunes that cost money). This means that people in lower class backgrounds or with little money are still able to find out about our artist/ group.

  1. Good use of different media to get your ideas across and I particularly like the use of Tagul which makes for good presentation. You've also provided a good justification of your target audience.

    Your mood board uses quite similar images. Try to use different images to represent your target audience audience, such as other things they may consume, wear, be interested in. This would would better represent who your target audience is.

    Also, try to be more exact about your target audience. Could you be specific about their ethnic background? Do they live more urban or rural? What about their socio-economic background? Are they from low, middle or high income backgrounds?
